Horribly out of shape after 3 children and no exercise i needed a PT who could motivate me to get fit even when the day was cold and rainy. A search of Winchester based trainers led me to Optimum PT who I chose because Ben offered a variety of different training options, including boxing with pads which I had enjoyed in the past. With a fierce dislike of running I thought that a mix of sessions sounded like a good way to get me into better shape. I did not want to be shouted at while running up a hill and luckily Ben spotted this immediately and has got me to exercise using a combination of humour, patience and a non-negotiable approach to the training. His conviction that I am perfectly able to do the sessions has given me enormous confidence, where previously I would have doubted my chances of completing a single sit up. It almost goes without saying that Ben combines his friendly approach with a very professional depth of knowledge about his subject, something which my husband (now also an Optimum PT client) has particularly noticed and which steers Bens training plan towards helping each person achieve their goals. I am stunned that thanks to Ben this year I have completed the Great South Run (and have continued running I am enjoying it so much!) and lost some weight. For me, the results achieved are remarkable: I feel well every day. I would recommend Optimum PT wholeheartedly.

I'm a generally active person but my exercise regime has got rather narrower in recent years ... I was
interested in getting some help exercising an all-round workout. Optimum came highly recommended
from a couple of friends, so i gave it a go.
Ben was open to asking me what I wanted from the sessions and made sure he was clear about my
aims. He also offered some excellent suggestions as to how to build a simple start into an enjoyable and
constantly challenging set of sessions.
Ben's approach is personal and friendly. He offers varied sessions and gets the most out of me

I decided to employ a personal trainer to enable me to exercise later into life by ensuring that I exercise in a way that is effective, suited to my personal physiology and actively helps to avoid the chances of injury along the way. I entrusted Ben to help as he had studied at degree level and then undertaken years of practice, which I felt was absolutely necessary bearing in mind the unique complexities of the human body. Furthermore he has a naturally helpful and positive attitude that reinforces his overall professionalism. Ben has and continues to help me achieve my overall aim by assessing my on-going fitness and personal range of motion, then adapting a varied and interesting training plan that incorporates different and sometimes unusual equipment and techniques to enhance and support any current goals. He has helped me improve my cardiaovascular fitness, recover from a shoulder injury and corrected knee pain that had prevented me from running - by offering good advice regarding correct running technique, selecting the right footwear and then implementing strengthening exercises. Within weeks the knee pain had gone and I have been able to successfully take part in The Great South Run and continue with a training plan for the Reading Half Marathon.

I decided to improve my health and fitness but I had always disliked exercise. I felt that a personal trainer would be of assistance both in motivating and encouraging me and also in guiding me in achieving my goals. Ben has designed an exercise regime for me which is varied and enjoyable and which changes over time to accommodate my changing ability and requirements. He has taken time to explain the exercises and how they will benefit me. Ben has encouraged and motivated me in a relaxed and friendly way to achieve and exceed my goals. This approach has been exactly what I needed to get me started and to keep me going with my exercise. I now go running at least twice a week between exercise sessions. As somebody who had used the gym for a number of years I felt I needed a change in respect of how and where I exercised. I also felt that the gym did not review/alter my exercise regime at regular enough intervals. I felt a personal trainer would meet these unmet needs and Optimum PT was highly recommended by a friend. Ben has been a great motivator. He senses when things are going well and pushes me, however also recognises those "bad" days and adjusts the exercise regime accordingly. He has help me maintain and improve my level of fitness and is always progressing the programme, just as I thought I had it sussed! Ben is flexible and accommodating, very professional, however, also approachable and friendly. A good communicator and always on time.

I desperately needed help to get back in to shape after having a baby. Not only was it the usual baby-weight issue, but I had a very specific concern with my stomach muscles as my baby was unusually large and I had medical issues that complicated the birth. Ben was excellent in terms of first of all making me feel comfortable enough to discuss it, but what I valued most was his expert advice that really focussed on what I needed as an individual rather than hearing the standard comments meant for general use by women who have had children. I was keen to find a personal trainer with both the experience and the training to ensure that I did not aggravate any of the minor injuries which I have picked up over the years. Ben turned out to be an excellent choice both with his qualifications and the fact that he has been training clients for several years now. My objectives all related to strength training and Ben has focussed on helping me to achieve those objectives. Surprisingly (for me) I have made huge progress with just one session a week. I may even have to admit to enjoying the sessions! The best thing about Ben is his calm professionalism. However busy and disorganised my week is, Ben turns up on time ready to start. My lifestyle was becoming unsustainable. Long client lunches, late nights, copious amounts of alcohol, unhealthy diet etc. I was also lacking in motivation – I knew something needed to be done to break the cycle but I needed somebody to provide the inspiration. I was drawn to Optimum Personal Training predominantly because of the 'sport-based' approach. I was a keen sportsman but never a gym-goer or runner so exercise centred round the sports I enjoyed was very appealing. I also liked the fact that Ben applied science and common sense to the training. We work to ambitious - but achievable - goals and benchmark progress at regular intervals. I'm very proud of the progress I have made since working with Optimum PT. I feel better and look better. I have continued to lose weight every week and now feel fitter than ever. Ben provides motivation and encouragement by doing the exercise with you. If it's interval training at 06:00, he'll be right there running up the hill too, if it's running 5k to beat your PB, he'll be setting the pace. It's exactly the kind of motivation and encouragement that I required. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Optimum Personal Training. Ben really understands his clients and invests time in getting to the root of what you're looking to achieve and then developing a plan to help you reach your goals. The training sessions are fun, hard work but immensely rewarding.
